Rwandair has announced plans to launch direct flights from Kigali to London Heathrow from November 6.
The African airline has been operating thrice-weekly flights to London via Brussels since 2017, but will begin a nonstop service next month to cater to demand.
The new four-times-weekly service will be operated by A330 aircraft, configured with two cabins (economy and business).
Flights will depart Kigali on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday at 2335, arriving in London at 0620 the following day.
The return flight will depart London at 2030 on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and arrive in Kigali at 0700 the following day.
Yvonne Makolo, CEO of Rwandair, said:
“We are excited to be launching direct flights to London, which are on sale from today, due to the popularity of our current services.
“The UK is an incredibly important market for us, and we know our customers will value the shorter flight times and increased connections that will be offered by the new service.”
The airline formerly flew from Kigali to London Gatwick, switching to Heathrow in 2020 to “improve connections for those travelling from further afield”.
Last month Business Traveller reported that the African flag carrier is exploring the possibility of joining the Oneworld alliance.
