The Munich-based Ruby Group is bringing its “lean luxury” Ruby Hotels brand to France.
The hotel brand is set to open a 237-room property and adjoining workspace in Marseille’s city centre towards the end of 2025.
Launched by BNP Paribas Real Estate, the hotel will be a conversion of a former office building and house a 24-hour bar with a 300 sqm rooftop terrace offering views over the city and Mediterranean coast.
The hotel will be located on the Boulevard des Dames, between the old harbour and the La Joliette/Euroméditerranée business district, with the La Joliette metro station a three-minute walk away.
Julian Mörs, group director development at Ruby, commented:
“France has always been a top target for Ruby and we are very pleased that Marseille will be the first French destination for our brand. The city offers a thriving hotel market based on strong demand for business and leisure travel alike, and thus harbours huge potential for our concept.”
Antoine Mabilon, deputy managing director at BNP Real Estate Property Development, added that there are “more to come”.
Meanwhile, Ruby Hotels is expanding into Scotland by 2025, as well as into Asia with a joint venture founded in 2018.
The Ruby Hotels brand launched in 2013, and currently operates 15 properties in locations including London, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Geneva and Zurich.
Ruby has a further 21 hotels either under construction or in the planning phase, as well as its own co-working spaces in the cities of Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Munich and Vienna.
