Ron C. Thornton, MAEd, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in nonprofit leadership.

Since 2019, Mr. Thornton has excelled as the president and chief executive officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Golden Triangle. Prior to this position, he was the vice president of operations of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Mississippi from 2015 to 2019, and from 2014 to 2015, he was the unit director of the same organization. Earlier, he served the organization as program director, and from 2006 to 2014, he was the director of education with the Oprah Winfrey Boys & Girls Clubs of Kosciusko Attala. Mr. Thornton began his career as a program coordinator with the Kosciusko Attala Boys & Girls Clubs from 2000 to 2004.

In preparation for his professional endeavors, Mr. Thornton earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Mississippi in 2007. He later attended Kaplan University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in legal professions and studies in 2010 and a Master of Arts in education in 2012. Currently, Mr. Thornton is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership. Alongside his formal degrees, he is a Licensed Insurance Agent and a certified CPR/AED trainer with EMS Safety Services. He is a member of the Society of African American Professionals and the founder of the Character Club Mentoring for Young Men. To keep abreast of his field, he is the president of the Mississippi Magnolia Chapter Association of the Professional and a member of The Professional Association.

Mr. Thornton attributes his success to his willingness to learn. He considers giving back to the youth in different communities to be the highlight of his career, and in the coming years he hopes to open his own consulting firm and obtain a Doctor of Philosophy. In his spare time, Mr. Thornton enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
