Karen Elizabeth McClendon, President General of The National Guild of St. Margaret of Scotland, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in genealogy.

An expert in genealogical research, Ms. McClendon has excelled as the president general of The National Guild of St. Margaret of Scotland since 2013. In addition to this position, she has been president, genealogist and editor for multiple lineage societies since 1994. From 2011 to 2014, Ms. McClendon garnered experience as a teacher for Sharon Serrago Inc., and from 1975 to 2001, she taught art and English at Newman Smith High School. Alongside her primary professional endeavors, she has served as a brownie and girl scout leader, a Sunday school teacher, and a docent with Dallas Heritage Village from 1995 to 2015.

Ms. McClendon has found additional success through her written work, authoring a book for the Order of Americans of Armorial Ancestry which is in the Library of Congress, among other published pieces. For her professional excellence, she earned an Outstanding Service Award from the Order of Charlemagne in 2019 and a SAR Medal of Appreciation from the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. In her spare time, Ms. McClendon enjoys genealogy, antiques, reading and music.

To keep abreast of her field, Ms. McClendon has maintained affiliation with numerous professional organizations. She was honorary president general of the Colonial and Antebellum Bench and Bar from 2010 to 2012 and held the same post with the Guild of Colonial Artisans and Tradesmen 1607-1783 from 2009 to 2011. Ms. McClendon is a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, the National Gavel Society, the American Descendants of the House of Burgesses, the Ancient Heraldic and Chivalric Order of Albion, the Colonial Dames of America, and the Descendants of the Illegitimate Sons and Daughters of the Kings of Britain, among myriad organizations. In the coming years, she hopes to tackle some long-standing projects in genealogy, enjoy some knitting and spend time with her grandchildren.
