IHG’s Voco brand launches cycling rewards package – Business Traveller

IHG Hotels and Resorts’ hotel brand Voco is offering a new cycling package at select properties in the UK.

The ‘Very Important Peddler’ package will see guests rewarded according to the miles they ride across cities in the UK.

Guests are able to book the package at Voco St. David’s Cardiff, Voco St. John’s Solihull, Voco Haymarket – Edinburgh, Voco Reading, and Voco Grand Central Glasgow, until January 31, 2023.

Customers can reserve the bikes, which are free of charge at the above properties, when they book the offer online. They will need to prove the distance cycled by using a tracking app of their choice in order to receive rewards. The rewards will be split into three categories based on mileage (two, five and ten miles cycled per day).

Rewards differ by hotel but could include a cocktail or hot drink of choice, a room upgrade, spa treatment offer, discounted food and beverage options, and IHG One Rewards points which can be redeemed across a range of experiences.

IHG is currently rolling out the offers on individual hotel pages.

The service has been launched in response to new findings from a survey conducted by Censuswide on behalf of IHG Hotels and Resorts. The survey revealed that 64 per cent of people in the UK are cycling more than pre-pandemic, while 65 per cent are more likely to cycle on holiday if the hotel provides a bike service. Additionally, 20 per cent are switching to bikes due to the desire to reduce their carbon footprint. Over half (52 per cent) would be more inclined to act sustainably if they were to be rewarded for their efforts.

Julie Cheesman, head of voco hotels at IHG Hotels and Resorts, said:

“We know responsible and sustainable travel is high on our guest’s agenda, so with our VIP package we are encouraging guests to ‘come on in’ and experience what makes the voco brand unique, while rewarding them too. To end the year on a high, and approach 2023 with the momentum we intend to carry on, we hope that the miles cycled by our guests contributes in some way to supporting green targets in our communities across the UK and encourages more to tread lightly on our planet.”

Earlier this year the brand launched a ‘Turn Up’ package in response to the demand for personalised and tailored services at hotels.
