Frank Vozos, President and Chief Executive Officer at Monmouth Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in hospital administration.
After originally obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in biology with a minor in physics from West Virginia University in in Morgantown, West Virginia, Dr. Vozos subsequently earned a Medical Doctor from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens School of Medicine in 1974. He then served a residency with the Rutgers University Medical School from 1976 to 1979 and a chief surgical residency with Monmouth Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health from 1978 to 1979. Dr. Vozos holds certifications in advanced trauma life support, laparoscopic surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and breast ultrasound for the surgeon and is licensed to practice medicine in Maine and New Jersey.
Dr. Vozos began a career of more than four decades with Monmouth Medical Center (MMC), RWJBarnabas Health in 1975, where he served as president of the medical and dental staff until 1998. He then excelled as executive director with MMC until 2010 and as president and chief executive officer until 2020 as only the second physician in New Jersey to take on a top hospital leadership role. Under his stewardship, he led MMC’s growth in cancer services and opened the Leon Hess Leon Hess Cancer Center, the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center, and the Cheryl L. Diamond Cancer Care Pavilion. In addition, Dr. Vozos oversaw the dedication of the Geriatric Emergency Medicine Unit and The Unterberg Children’s Hospital and supervised the development of the James and Sharon Maida Geriatrics Institute. During Dr. Vozos’ tenure, MMC placed within the top 10 performers in New Jersey and the top five performers in the RWJBarnabas Health system for several key patient satisfaction areas.
Aside from his administrative duties, Dr. Vozos provided superior education as clinical associate professor of surgery with the Drexel University College of Medicine from 1993 to 2016. In addition, he has been active in many local service organizations that include the American Red Cross, Prevention First, Boy Scouts of America, as a host of area Chambers of Commerce, and in the volunteer organization Long Branch Tomorrow, who originally created the redevelopment plan for the Long Branch oceanfront.
Dr. Vozos’ many professional accolades include a Lifetime Achievement Award given by Monmouth Medical Center in 2021; a Distinguished Service Award from the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) the same year; a Regents Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2018; a Citizen of the Year Award from the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce in 2016; the Family and Children’s Services Community Service Award in 2012; and a Medical Leadership Award from the Housing Authority of the City of Long Branch in 2011.
Attributing his success largely to the many relationships he has developed both in and out of the hospital, many of which he is proud to count today as good friends, Dr. Vozos cites his excellent relationships with his employees as a career highlight. In the coming years, he intends to help his children and grandchildren to attain the opportunities that he has had.
