Austrian Airlines has launched a revamped long-haul inflight dining concept, alongside the carrier’s new motto “Austria’s flair in the air” which aims to “embody hospitality and the Austrian sense of home”.
The ‘Tastefully Austrian’ concept includes a bar snack with the welcome drink in business class, as well as an expanded meal selection including soup “due to its popularity”, and two international main courses alongside an Austrian signature dish.
Premium passengers will also now be offered a Viennese coffee house service with dessert, as well as a separate cheese trolley.
The enhancements follow the reintroduction of the carrier’s DO & CO-employed Flying Chefs earlier this year.
Economy and premium economy passengers will also benefit from “new recipes and creations offered in the proven three- or four-course menus with two main course options”, with a light dish or “small breakfast” also being served on all long-haul flights.
Commenting on the news Austrian’s CCO Michael Trestl said:
“We aim to provide our guests with a flying piece of Austria – a culinary experience the Austrian way. Our goal is to highlight Austrian hospitality and cuisine and to offer our guests an individual experience.”
The long-haul catering revamp follows the introduction of an economy pre-order service on short and medium-haul flights late last year.
